[sleep is still something that doesn't really come naturally to him. the idea of just lying there with his eyes shut until he suddenly loses track of time feels strange. but that doesn't keep him from trying it each night. doesn't keep him from heading to bed each evening and spending a few hours with his mind off somewhere else.
usually, it's just darkness. an empty space that he finds himself disappearing in to each time he drifts off. tonight though-
the break in silence comes as a surprise. but it's the feeling that goes with it that concerns him more. he'd promised sam he'd keep his distance. had promised to never talk to lucifer. and now it looks like he's being forced to break that promise. which is why, when he turns to face the angel, jack already seems annoyed.]
