[he remains silent the entire time, his gaze fixed on a point somewhere in front of him, even as lucifer starts to circle. multitasking isn't a strong point for him yet, so he takes the time to listen. to work through everything he's being told. to try and process it all.
but then lucifer is stood back in front of him again, and jack-
his expression softens a little. confusion giving way to a hint of understanding. sure, he may not fully agree with everything lucifer has said. but he knows there's some level of truth to it all. having a lot of time on his hands and being given free access to the internet back home was definitely not the best combination if they wanted to keep him from the truth of the matter. humans really have cause a lot of harm to the planet that god made them.
so when he looks back at lucifer again, he seems a lot more willing to listen. to give the angel time to explain. because as easy as it is to accept all that sam and dean have told him about his father, what if this lucifer really is different?
...what if this is an opportunity to get to know the other half of what he is?]
Sam's a good person. He deserves to be free. Why did you have to take him?
[or, supposes the real question is-]
...when you're finished- Are you going to let him go?
