[He sighs softly. So softly, speaking with an even softer voice.]
Humans ruined it, kid. I don't know what it's like in your world, but in mine...? God, if you could see the damage they did to it. God's beautiful planet... [He walks, casual, in wide laps around Jack; giving him space, not letting him feel too much like prey or anything. Lucifer's trying to be nice. Trying to be open. Sam's son deserves the best, doesn't he?] You know, they blame me for it. All the time. Death and violence... People being monsters — you know, not literal monsters, but truly heinous people.
They always turn and point and say "the devil, he's to blame".
And then they tear down trees, start wars, genocides... make whole animal species go extinct, neglect innocent creatures they've decided to make their 'pets'... The list is endless, and I gotta say, the 'devil'? He was just a sad, annoyed spectator to the sorts of depravity they bloodied up their hands for.
[He stops in front of Jack, nose squinching up.]
Doesn't that sound like a planet in desperate need of repair?
Doesn't that sound like something Sam would be all for doing? Fixing what's broken? So yes. I'm in Sam's body. And yes, he's having second thoughts — but he'll come around, because he's got a good heart, and he'll remember what's important with time.
